Hermès 90cm Scarf ‘La Réale’ by Hugo Grygkar c. 1953
This beauty was designed by Hugo Grygkar in 1953 (the same artist who collaborated with Robert Dumas and designed the very first Hermès scarf!). The care tag has been carefully removed on this one, so it could be 1953 or a vintage reissue from 1982 or 1990 (I cannot confirm the colorway matches to the years.)
The design is based on the stern of the French royal galley La Réale, a magnificent 17th-century ship used by King Louis XIV. Grygkar's design was inspired by a model of the ship on display at the Musée National de la Marine in Paris.
Freshly cleaned, but I was unable to fully remove two spot areas. Spot pics are zoomed to 2.5 to show them clearly - they are very subtle and are unlikely to be seen unless you are hunting for them. Everything else about it is lovely.
This colorway is perfection for fall and this beauty will serve you well year ‘round for many years to come!
