Hermes 90cm ‘L’Elegance et la Confort en Automobile’ by Cathy Latham c. 1996
Ready for the ride? The car engine is purring by the front steps, and Madame is taking the wheel! The scene takes place in the 1920s, when women's emancipation was in full swing. Hermès contributed to this new-found freedom, designing useful and practical clothing and all the equipment needed by the modern travelling woman: trunk, gloves, scarf, briefcase and blanket, as revealed in these advertisements assembled by Cathy Latham. Elegance and comfort for travelling!
