Hermes 140cm ‘L'Instruction Du Roy’ by Henri d’Origny c. 1993
The inspiration and name for this absolutely gorgeous scarf came from an ancient French/German book of equitation, the art and practice of riding a horse, written by Antoine de Pluvinel in 1629.
Through an interlacing of bits and reins, curves and scrolls, Henri d’Origny recounts the teaching of Antoine de Pluvinel, equerry to King Louis XIII. Mindful of the horse’s wellbeing, he extolled the virtues of gentleness and understanding in his work L’Instruction du roy en l’exercice de monter à cheval.
